Chair Deatrick joined the Duval Democratic Environmental Caucus of Florida and the Florida DECF Environmental Justice Coalition for a Community Meet and Greet and Listening event focused on environmental justice. She toured one of the community’s several superfund sites. Community members spoke about redlining, pollution, inappropriate and environmental concerning zoning, and superfund cleanup.

Speaking from the Alachua County Democrats’ office, Chair Deatrick joined Florida Dems Chair Nikki Fried and Florida Dems Environmental Caucus President Judy Freiberg to speak to hundreds of Democrats across the state on this livestream focusing on environment and climate as winning issues.

Alachua County Democrats Chair Tyler Foerst moderated a packed, dynamic event at which Chair Deatrick spoke about climate and affordable energy as winning electoral issues. Appalachia County Dems are organizing with energy!
Climate Crisis Youth Forum.
Hosted by the College Dems at the University of Florida, Sunrise Gainesville, GenCLEO UF and the DNC Climate Council. UF College Dems President Juan Osorio and climate scientist Rock Aboujaoude joined Council Chair Michelle Deatrick for an energetic discussion of climate challenges, US and international climate policy, the youth vote, and how to make a difference.

Chair Deatrick met with the University of Central Florida College Democrats, led by the wonderful President Jasmyn Stewart, to share the Council’s work and how to get involved, and to hear students’ thoughts and concerns on climate, which included Arctic ice melt, data centers, cancer clusters and nuclear energy, and fossil fuel subsidies.
