Statement by the DNC Council On The Environment and Climate Crisis Regarding 2025 Election Results: “Climate Is A Winning Issue”

Following Democrats big night last night in the 2025 races, Michelle Deatrick, Chair of the DNC Council On the Environment and Climate Crisis, issued the following statement:

“Last night was a good night. From New York City to state Senate races throughout Virginia to Public Service Commissioner races in Georgia, candidates who ran on fighting climate change and lowering energy prices won.

Last night once again showed that climate is a winning issue. It is key to energizing young voters, key constituencies within the Democratic Party and independent voters. And as the results show, as Democrats gear up for 2026, we should keep climate, energy issues and higher energy costs at the forefront of our campaigning.”
