On the Road: Netroots Nation Events in Philadelphia
Chair Deatrick traveled to Philadelphia for Netroots Nation 2026 — the largest annual gathering of progressives in the country — for three days of climate organizing across a panel, a caucus, and a happy hour.
On the Climate Wins panel, Chair Deatrick and her fellow panelists pushed back on the current political wisdom that tells Democrats to stop talking about climate change. The session flipped the script by spotlighting Democrats who have won their races in part by talking about climate change head-on. Panelists also discussed recent polling trends that support the importance of energy affordability and utility rates as key electoral issues, specially when linked to corporate greed, and that show the stunning unpopularity of data centers and their impact on utility rates. ,
At the Climate Caucus, organized by RL Miller and co-moderated by Chair Deatrick, participants dug into big, visionary ideas and transformative strategies for addressing the climate crisis after — hopefully — success in the 2026 and 2028 elections.
To close out the gathering, the Council co-hosted a Climate Happy Hour, bringing organizers and allies together to connect, celebrate and support Pennsylvania climate candidates.
