Sierra Club NY-17 Climate Candidates Forum Moderated by Chair Deatrick

Chair Deatrick moderated this Democratic primary candidate forum for New York’s 17th Congressional District, which is a top-targeted tossup race for the 2026 midterm elections. The primary is June 23.

The event, hosted by the Sierra Club New York, was organized by Co-Chairs Ed Berry and Paul Presendieu. Paul is also the terrific Youth Engagement Director of the DNC Climate Council.

The conversation ranged from data centers to nuclear power, from renewable energy to plans to address the climate crisis, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the transition to clean energy.
