Michigan Democratic Party Convention & MDP Environmental Caucus Meeting
Michigan Democrats care about climate, and they showed up in force at the Caucus’ packed, standing-room-only gathering of nearly 200 Environmental Caucus members at the Michigan Democratic Party Convention.
MDP Environmental Caucus Chair Wesley Watson joined Council Chair Michelle Deatrick — who organized and co-led — to host. Christy McGillivray of Voters Not Politicians spoke on the Michiganders for Money Out of Politics ballot initiative, which would ban regulated utilities from contributing to state officeholders and political parties, ban corporations with large state or local government contracts from making campaign contributions, and more.
Tina Catron of EDF Action gave an inspiring update on Michigan legislation and shared a petition in support of Congressional clean energy initiatives and affordability. Chair Deatrick shared updates on the DNC, voter registration and IWillVote.com, and the DNC Climate Council.
