Council’s Winter 2025 Meeting in Los Angeles

The Council’s packed, interactive meeting, held during the DNC Winter Meeting, was kicked off by keynote speaker Congressperson Laura Friedman and ended with rousing remarks by DNC Chair Ken Martin. A terrific panel with ASDC President Jane Kleeb and affordable energy advocate Charles Hua on energy affordability, renewable energy and data centers as key issues in downballot races.

California DNC Member Michael Kapp, who was evacuated from his home during the Pacific Palisades fire, introduced Melissa Grant, who spoke powerfully about losing her home in the fire. Grant is also the founder and President of Grassroots Democrats HQ.  


Katie Thomas, Esq., Director of Livable Futures at We Build Progress (formerly the Congressional Progressive Caucus Center), presented a short workshop on green energy tax credits for municipalities. RL Miller, Chair of the California Democrats Environmental Caucus & President, Climate Hawks Vote, briefed the Council on the key contributions of the CADems Environmental Caucus to the passage of Prop 50 and more
