The U.S will do its “fair share” of greenhouse gas reductions to keep global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. This significant amendment improves on the 2016 platform and the original 2020 Platform Draft in two ways: it firmly commits to 1.5 degrees C.

A growing number of prominent environmental and Democratic Party organizations have signed on in early support of the DNC Council on the Environment and Climate Crisis’s new Policy Recommendations for the 2020 Democratic Party Platform, released last week.

Our platform provides a blueprint for ambitious action to fight the climate crisis and advance climate and environmental justice.

We unequivocally condemn the killing of George Floyd, and stand with protestors in their calls for justice and their fight against police violence, racism and white supremacy. We stand, too, against the wider culture of racism that has for too long degraded our country and destroyed communities and lives.

Today, the DNC Environment and Climate Crisis Council announced its Platform Committee, whose members will be tasked with developing recommendations for the climate, environment and energy planks of the 2020 Democratic Party Platform.
